Eichhorn wins 4th title

Hunter Eichhorn

ERIN, Wis. — Hunter Eichhorn claimed a share of his second golf title this fall when he shot 7-under-209 Monday in the Marquette Intercollegiate tournament at Erin Hills. It is the fourth time Eichhorn has finished first in his career.

The Marquette University junior bogied his final hole of the 54-hole event to tie for first place with Luke Gifford of University of South Florida. Eichhorn had rounds of 70-67-72 while Gifford hit 72-68-69.

Eichhorn, a native of Carney, Mich., has earned a share of two titles in the fall season. He also got a piece of first place at the Windon Memorial Classic two weeks ago at Conway Farms in Lake Forest, Ill.

Eichhorn, who has led the Golden Eagles in all four tournaments this fall, finished third at Erin Hills last year. Erin Hills hosted the 117th U.S. Open in 2017.

Purdue won the team title with a 9-under 855, two strokes better than Northwestern University. Marquette was ninth at 15-over 879.

Purdue was second at the Island Resort Intercollegiate at Sage Run Golf Course in Wilson last month.
