Bink named WCHA  Rookie of the Week

Brooke Bink

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Escanaba native Brooke Bink received her first major accolade playing hockey for Ohio State University last weekend, earning Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week honors.

Bink, a freshman forward who played for the USA U-18 national hockey team last season, tallied her first career goal in a 6-2 win over St. Cloud State Oct. 5. She put up five shots over two games and had an overall plus-three to help the Buckeyes complete the weekend sweep.

Bink is currently tied for third on the team in shots (14) and is second among forwards.

She also has two assists to put her at three points for the season, which is second in the conference in freshman scoring.

Bink joins teammates Emma Maltais, Andrea Braendli, Jincy Dunne, Liz Schepers and Tatum Skaggs to win a Rookie of the Week award.

Maltais was also named Forward of the Week after tying an Ohio State record with four goals in a game Oct. 4.

The Buckeyes host Wisconsin tonight at 6:07 p.m.
