Mid Pen tops Munising for first time ever

MUNISING — The Mid Peninsula volleyball team reached new heights here Monday, topping conference rival Munising 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-12) for the first time ever.

“Every girl stepped up and played their role perfectly tonight,” Mid Pen coach Emily Kayser said. “This is our first time ever beating Munising in volleyball, so this is a huge confidence booster for us.”

The Wolverines (4-1, 2-0 Skyline Central Conference) dominated the first and third sets with a closely contested second set in between.

“We went on some nice lengthy service runs, which helped us out a lot,” Kayser said. “Everyone played their role and we looked really good tonight. We have really good team chemistry this year.”

Kennedy Englund led the Wolverines with 13 kills, six aces, two blocks and two digs; Elli Paulsen served five aces and had 16 digs; Daisy Englund had 18 assists; Camryn Croasdell chipped in with eight digs, three aces and two kills; Karley Prater had five aces, two kills and two digs; Chevy Koski added nine digs and three kills and Allyson Lancour had three digs and two kills.

Mid Pen, which also won the jayvee contest 2-0, is idle until next Tuesday when it visits North Central.
