Braves Fan Club

holds golf outing

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Braves Fan Club held its 25th annual golf outing last Thursday at Gladstone Golf Club.

Team Swartz won the scramble’s championship flight with a -19. Team members were Bill Swartz, Steve Bratonia, Gary Bricco and Scott Neurohr.

GHS 2011 Guys took second and OSF Healthcare and was third. The first flight was won by Upper Peninsula State Bank and Mbank won the second flight.

UPGA notes

GLADSTONE — Bryce Douglas, the winner of last weekend’s UPGA men’s golf championship at Terrace Bluff Golf and Country Club in Gladstone, is a nephew of Brian Douglas of Escanaba, who won UPGA titles in 1976 and 1977.

Bryce’s dad, Dave, also served as caddy for his son.

GLADSTONE — Steve Bratonia shot a 71 to lead the Gladstone Men’s 18-hole League Monday. He was followed by Kelly Shea 72, Scott Neurohr 73, Kim Clouse and Wayne Marshall 75, Dick Pepin 76, Marv Cartwright 77, Don Chounard, Mark Hagar and Mike Gillis 78, and Charlie Creten, Bruce Cline and Marty Kallio 79.

Nate Rousseau led the 9-hole league with a 32. He was followed by Tom Gereau 35, Joe Quinn and Benji Malnar 36, Brent Kallio and Jim Hansen 38, and Pat Quinn, Josh Miron, Hunter Way, and Jared Dagenias 39.
