HARRIS -- The Bark River-Harris Broncos made their volleyball opener a successful one Tuesday night in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-23) volleyball triumph over the Menominee Maroons.

"Both teams served well in the first and third sets," said BR-H coach Jennifer Ives. "Only, we had a few less errors.

"The girls worked real well together. We have kind of a young team, but I think they're doing real well. The girls learned to play well together. Our serving was fantastic."

BR-H's Tressa Ives hit four service aces and Alaska Peterson collected 17 assists. McKenna Lockwood recorded 32 digs and Abby Flagstadt added 18.

"McKenna Lockwood and Kassidy Berg played very strong at the net," said coach Ives. "I think the girls played with a lot of energy. They were excited to get on the court and play. I'm proud of their effort."

The Broncos, who won the jayvee match in three sets, host Munising Sept. 10. The Maroons visit Gladstone Thursday.
