Superior Central drops 3 games at Dome, Manistique also falls to LL-H
MARQUETTE — A trio of Copper Country softball teams provided a stern test for the Superior Central Cougars Saturday as they dropped all three contests at Northern Michigan University’s Superior Dome.
The Cougars fell to Hancock 17-2, Houghton 12-5 and Lake Linden-Hubbell 15-4 in the Marquette Spring Swing.
Superior Central’s Betty Jo Swajanen went 3-for-3 against Houghton. Emma Rutter added a triple and double and drove in two runs and Jada Johnson had two hits and an RBI.
Addie Rondeau had two hits and Charlotte Charlebois doubled and drove in three runs against LL-H.
The Cougars (0-7) were limited to three hits and committed nine errors against Hancock.
“We had too many errors and gave up a lot of walks,” said Cougars’ coach Richard Swajanen.
“The whole lineup hit the ball, only we were hitting at people. There’s no reason why we can’t win games like that.”
Manistique also bowed to LL-H 12-8, but other details about the Emeralds weren’t available.
The Emeralds host Westwood for a doubleheader Wednesday.
Superior Central was to play a twinbill today at Norway.
Those games, however, were cancelled. The Cougars resume Friday at Stephenson.
