Jets get win
POWERS — The fifth-ranked North Central girls got out of the gates quickly here Monday night in a 53-34 basketball triumph over the North Dickinson Nordics.
North Central led 14-5 after the first quarter and 27-16 at halftime of the Skyline Central Conference contest.
“We didn’t force things like we did at the end of the Carney game (in Saturday’s 50-46 loss),” said Jets’ coach Lee Vincent. “We played pretty good team defense tonight. They have a good team. They have some pretty fast girls.”
Chloe Wells led the Jets (9-4 overall, 9-3 SCC) with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jadie Linder added 11 points. Brianna Smith paced the Nordics (7-7 overall, 6-6 league) with 10 points.
“Chloe had a great game and Jadie played a good game,” said Vincent. “Everybody had some playing time.”
North Central, which also won the jayvee game, travels to Superior Central Wednesday. The Nordics host Forest Park Thursday.
