Gorzinski shrugs off ankle injury to power Jets

CRYSTAL FALLS — Noah Gorzinski passed for three touchdowns and ran for two as the North Central Jets posted a 52-28 eight-player football victory over the Forest Park Trojans.

Gorzinski, who had an ankle injury last week, also returned a kickoff 75 yards for another score, giving the Jets a 44-12 cushion early in the third quarter of the Great Lakes Eight West Division contest.

“Noah did what he normally does,” said Jets’ coach Leo Gorzinski. “We knew it was going to be a battle. We faced them several times before and they’re the ones who knocked us out of the playoffs last year.’

The Trojans opened the scoring slightly more than two minutes into the contest before the Jets responded with 38 unanswered points.

“We came in knowing we had to get up on them early, but they got an interception and got up on us,” said coach Gorzinski.

“It’s a credit to our kids for shaking that one off. Once we get our offense rolling, we have a ton of weapons out there.”

Noah Gorzinski was 6-of-10 passing for 135 yards and an interception and ran 13 times for 189 yards. Cole Timblin added a three-yard TD run and Caleb Walters recorded a safety, with help from Anthony McVay.

North Central (5-1), which visits Florence, Wis. Friday, rushed for 271 yards.
