Bay College inks 1st women’s cager

ESCANABA — Bay College women’s basketball coach Rae Drake Jr. went to the east side of the Upper Peninsula for his first signee.

Drake signed St. Ignace senior Jordan Belleville to a national letter of intent to play for the Norse in the 2017-18 season.

“I am so happy to have Jordan become a member of our Norse family, she is a very good player, great student, and even better person,” Drake said. “Jordan comes from a great family and one of the most successful high school programs in Michigan. The habit of winning will be a great asset to our program.”

As a freshman, Belleville was a member of the Saints’ team that finished as Class C state runner-up. She earned a playmaker award as a sophomore while helping St. Ignace win the state championship. The Saints won district and regional titles her junior season and she was honored with the Most Inspirational award.

St. Ignace and Belleville, who is a co-captain and all-conference player as a senior, fell to Glen Lake in Tuesday’s state quarterfinal game.

Belleville also participated in volleyball and carries a 3.5 grade point average.
