While many people compared the recent snow storm to one about 50 years ago, it is important to recognize the effort that goes into plowing and removing the piles of snow in the after math of the storm.
I know some individuals that feel their personal situation took longer to remedy than they may have wanted, but the county and municipal workers really did an outstanding job, under very adverse conditions.
While making decisions to make sure they would be safe and equipment would not get stranded or broken, many dedicated employees looked after our wellbeing, and we are blessed to have them. Great job to all involved!
As we dig out from the snow, it is time to think about the transition into spring and summer activities. Similar to 2025, we will have a lot of infrastructure work in Delta County! While it will be challenging to drive through construction projects, all of this work is necessary for our long-term success. Projects based on water infrastructure and road construction are needed enhancements that have been long overdue. While the decisions to bite the bullet and get them done as soon as we can can cause some heartache, it is great to see our leaders look to get this completed as quickly as possible. Our focus should be on the end state of this work! Our area will be much better with the completion of these much needed projects.
Soon, we will be looking at outdoor spring and summer activities to fill our time. Delta County is becoming a destination for the many music festivals and the opportunity to musical performances on an almost daily basis. We will also have our area athletes participating in baseball and softball tournaments, making us all proud of their accomplishments! Our area is also known as a golf destination — we have many beautiful area courses. We will have many opportunities to participate in local organizations’ fundraisers while having fun and fellowship on the course. Nothing like a great round with friends, a couple of cold beverages and some great food, all for a good cause.

Speaking of golf — During the week of June 22, the Epson Tour will be making their annual visit to the Sweetgrass Golf Club at the Island Resort & Casino for the 15th Island Resort Championship. If you have never volunteered to help out at the tournament, it is a very fun way to get close to the action and support the important event. People can contact the Delta County Chamber at 906-786-2192 or utilize the website to learn more and sign up at deltami.org.
I hope to see you at some of our events this coming year!
