Town hall meeting

EDITOR: I would like to thank Brian Rowell and the Daily Press for exposing an upcoming town hall meeting in the Feb 27 issue scheduled for March 6 at 7 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Local 21 union hall (the same location as the Delta Dems monthly meeting). The meeting is organized by an unnamed group which identifies Theresa Ross as a member. Its purpose is to hold a sham meeting with Representative Jack Bergman… without Jack Bergman… Huh??? “Bergman is… invited to attend…” was mentioned but a call to the Representative’s office revealed they were not aware of any ...

An open letter to Congressman Bergman

EDITOR: Below is an open letter to Congressman Bergman. Using Congressman Bergman’s website, I sent a message to the Congressman on February 20, 2025. His office acknowledged receiving the message, but I haven’t received a response yet. I thought publishing the message might prompt a response from the Congressman. I’ve edited the last paragraph for clarity. On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Newsweek published a video accompanied by a report, stating that President Trump had made a statement on Tuesday asserting that Ukraine should have ended the war in three years. Trump ...

Canadians and the U.S.

EDITOR: It is a pure entitlement mentality for one country to demand we purchase their goods if they haven’t been doing likewise. Could you imagine Walmart sending you a nasty gram for not shopping there? As a Canadian born American citizen, who happens to be a Trump supporter, I am frustrated with the majority of Canadians and their continued ignorance. The issue of tariffs proposed by Mr Trump. Canada, hypocritically, remains among the most closed economies in the G8. America’s few remaining stalwart consumer industries such as banking, airline companies, breweries, sports and ...

The scenario in Ukraine

EDITOR: Dear Senators and Congresspersons, Maybe you can help. It’s about a big problem I’ve seen in the neighborhood and a no-good aggressor is getting away with it. I saw it all; this one guy attacked his neighbor because he didn’t like the other’s politics. It wasn’t just verbal abuse, the aggressor actually stole the bikes of the kids next door, he severely damaged the neighbor’s car, and what is worse is that he moved his fence about 10 feet into the neighbor’s yard and is claiming it as his own. The abused neighbor has tried to complain, but the buddy of the ...

Hold a townhall meeting

EDITOR: Congressman Jack Bergman has railed against the alleged overreach of unelected bureaucrats and the need to rein them in. Those pesky bureaucrats, always trying to administer laws passed by Congress, the same legislative body to which Rep. Bergman belongs. Mr. Bergman has also stressed the importance of congressional oversight of executive actions. As chair of the House Budget Committee’s Oversight Task Force, Mr. Bergman co-authored a letter in June 2024 to the Congressional Budget Office requesting a “fulsome cost estimate” of the 138 executive actions taken by President ...

The egg law

EDITOR: I just read Daniel Van Beek’s response to my January 25 letter regarding Michigan’s new egg law. After reading it, I couldn’t help but wonder “did he actually read my letter or did he just glance and react to it?” I didn’t need his history lesson regarding this law, but I suppose he thought that if he just explained that this stupid Bipartisan law was 15 years in the making that would somehow make it more palatable....it doesn’t. In support of his postion, Mr Van Beek quotes the writings of Jerry Neyer that appeared in the Detroit Free Press. Mr. Neyer is a ...
