Enough, please stop

By Mike Olson, Escanaba 3 min read

The Democrat candidate for Senate in Michigan -- Abdul El-Sayed -- is a socialist and a man of the Muslim faith who has made terrible anti-Jewish and anti-American comments to the media. Democrats, you have a problem. Do you support this DSA's questionable character or not? Some of my Michigan Democrat friends tell me they are concerned about El-sayed's comments. Good. This national wave of self-identified DSA or socialist Democratic Party candidates -- who won in primaries -- cause their party to consider this direction carefully.

Some major Democrat players are not pleased with the socialist-Islamic direction. It is ironic because Muslim life and priorities do not, on the surface, match any socialist folks who at least seek religion out of politics and offer freedom of expression, like in sexual dimensions, where Islam is in another direction. I am not sure that Muslims will be eager to allow free speech. Both GOP and Dems have iffy records of defending free speech, but primarily, it is democrats who offer it but do not allow it -- don't question Democrat policy or you get neutered. The Democrats and the media -- I need not distinguish -- love limits.

GOP status, not too much better. I like a lot of Trump's ideas and policies; his implementation is really sketchy. A poor economy and an unpopular war put him at odds with much of America. Add to that his personality and attacks on any and everyone are simply foolish, unproductive. Obviously, some GOP congress folks and members in his inner circle are afraid to confront foolishness. No, we do not need a ballroom, D.C. arch or his statue replacing Lady Liberty. His 'take' in the war is more than confusing. I do not want Dems in power, to make me call Marry, Harry, or Ken, Marcia again. I do like that over 70% of Americans polled do not want males in female sports. However, Dem lawmakers did not get the message.

Way back in the 1940s, Norman Thomas was the head of the Socialist Party, and he had run for president six times and lost. In 1944, he told his socialist party that he would not run again, because the Democrats had taken over the socialist party's platform.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the division in America and the diminishing use of the value of listening to the other side without rancour, demonization, hate speech and no compromise -- often no attempt to compromise. Not agreeing with Bernie Sanders does not mean that I hate him or his supporters. I love chatting with them, though our differences are big. Bernie -- the millionaire -- is still complaining about rich Americans. I think many Americans support cross party cooperation. Nation-wide, most Americans see a huge declining result of our public school student's academic records. More money will not fix that. The Democratic Party thinks that they are using Islamis voters to advance their socialist agenda. Actually, Islam is using the Dems to advance Islam. Right now, best of two evils, vote red. God, spare us.
