On adding Trump name to the Kennedy Center
Imagine being born in the United States some 60-plus years ago, attaining a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, retiring from the State of Michigan after decades of exemplary service, having no criminal record and then being traumatized by masked thugs while on a shopping trip simply because your skin is brown. This describes a friend of mine.
Many say this is NOT who we are in the United States, but this is who we have become under the convicted felon and current occupant of the White House; a complicit, Republican-controlled Congress; and a corrupt U.S. Supreme Court.
On another matter, the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts was voted by Congress in 1964 to be the “sole national memorial” to the late president who gave his life while serving his country. In December 1983, Congress added specific language (Public Law 98-205) that the Board of Trustees must “assure that no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas of the facility.”
Yet the current Board of Trustees, having been appointed by and upon his “urging,” have voted to add the name of a convicted felon and current occupant of the White House to the name of the center.
And, so it goes when a convicted felon becomes the occupant of the White House.
