Political violence

EDITOR:

I was a little surprised to see the article in the July 16 Daily Press about the man who tried to firebomb the Dickinson County Republican Party headquarters in Iron Mountain. The story is getting some national attention, and why not? It’s a local version of a current national problem; leftist political violence.

I remember the institutional media warning us that the Tea Party movement of 2007-10 could become violent. In 2017, the FBI initially labeled the Bernie Sanders supporter who shot up a Republican baseball practice in D.C. as a “suicide by cop”. The summer 2020 riots were framed as “mostly peaceful” and “protected speech” by the big media. Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick, we were assured, was beat to death by rampaging Trump supporters on J6. None of which was true.

During Biden’s term, right-wing “domestic violent extremism” was said to be the biggest threat to our Democracy. Concerned parents who spoke up at school board meetings and Catholics who preferred a Latin mass were targeted for scrutiny by the FBI as potential sources of violence while Antifa was described by some as a “myth”.

The above is a mere sampling of the lies deployed by the D.C. leftist hive mind, the same hive that is now doing its level-best to encourage, if not justify, serious leftist violence against federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and their local partners. They’re being attacked, by goons that look a lot like Antifa, with bricks, frozen water bottles, fireworks and guns in some cases. Several officers have been injured.

The Biden version of the hive assured us that the border was secure. Now that it really is secure, ICE is trying to send the violent criminals back where they came from, as promised by the elected President. Why would anyone want to stop the deportation of violent criminals? Who would want to!?! Who is funding all this?

Did the would-be firebomber find encouragement for his act in the going’s-on around the country today? The Chair of each party in Dickinson County has condemned the attempted arson. That’s a different kind of encouraging, the good kind. Hat’s off to those two leaders, especially the Democrat.
