Gas prices
EDITOR:
Are you as angry as I am? Probably not. My business runs on gas. Currently, Escanaba area gas prices are $3.34.9 a gallon. There might be some station that is a little more, or a little less, but I am using that as my standard. Yesterday I went to Marinette. Menominee prices were $3.11. Marinette was $3.02. Marinette is Wisconsin, so, maybe different taxes, or other reasons. Menominee is Michigan. There is no valid reason for the price to be 22 cents difference. I ran a gas station for six years. I had 30,000 gallons storage, in ground. Most deliveries were at least 10,000 gallons. Some tankers were capable of carrying much more. So, the tanker leaves Green Bay with 10,000 gallons. It doesn’t cost 22 cents a mile to go from Menominee to Escanaba, yet, that is what they would like us to believe. That means that every 10,000 gallon delivery is a $2,200 profit. I had a small station. Stations like Circle K and Kris are pumping a lot more volume than I did.
I believe that this classifies as price gouging. I think Attorney General Dana Nessel should be looking into this. Get her to stop trying to block the Enbridge pipeline long enough ro help the citizens in the U.P. Escanaba is only one of many similar situations in the U.P.
This has been happening for decades and consumers just take it. We all complain, but none of our elected representatives seem to care. It’s about time we do something.
