Is this what we can expect?

EDITOR:

It seems the adage bad behavior by one does not excuse the same behavior by another. Or, if they did it, its OK for me to do it too. Both are fallacies of logic and truly unethical. Commonly, this tactic is used to excuse an action as payback for previous slights or perceived wrongs.

The removal of Rory Mattson and Allen Ettenhoffer appear to be in retaliation for the previous removal of Emily Desalvo, a county employee for documented reasons in her employment over time. Rory and Allen were not even given an opportunity to perform their new duties and be judged on their merits. Kelli Van Ginhoven initiated the process of their removal citing the pleasure of the board .

Is this the kind of pleasurable actions we should expect from this board? Is that the only reason, is there some tangible, qualitative or ethical cause for their removal? What process will be used to replace them? Will it be at the pleasure of the board, or will actual qualifications be considered? This should be interesting and will be scrutinized by attending meetings, and requesting all activities regarding the hiring process. Lets see if this is determined to be an internal human resource action and not open to the public. That would be the height of hypocrisy and a violation of the ethics of open and transparent governance. We’ll be watching.

It took less than a month for the true nature and policies of this new board to become evident. Is this what we can expect for their decision-making process? If people knew these would be the governing tactics of Kelli and her band of merry pranksters, would those who voted for them wish to now be associated with them and own up to their choices?

We have yet to hear of definitive ideas or policies of the new board to address the true problems of Delta County. Have they even identified any of them? Remember, none of them cited any reasons other than recall to be elected. The televised forum concentrated on past issues and woke, pablum topics.

Fortunately, the primaries and general election will give us a chance to pass judgement on the pleasurable decisions of this board.
