Unkept promises

EDITOR:

In a Daily Press interview published June 17, 2023, Commissioner Moyle discussed his plan and ideas for the county.

Discussing Billerud:

“They’re going to have the biggest paper machine in the world here in Delta County and I think somebody, one of the commissioners or somebody at the county level needs to be the liaison available to them so they … don’t run into any snags or snafus,”

Who is that liaison?

Discussing Employee wages:

In addition to making wages more competitive, Moyle wants to institute a tuition payment plan for county employees. Under the plan… Moyle envisions county employees in approved educational programs having half of their tuition reimbursed for a C grade, 75% for a B, and 100% reimbursement for an A.

“An educated workforce is a happy workforce and a secure workforce and I would like to see this be one perk that we give our employees that we currently don’t.”

Where is this program now? How would this be funded? Who would provide oversight?

Regarding the VSO:

“There might be differences of opinion on the board as far as how we do things (to collect money for this program), but we all want the vets, especially (Delta County Veteran’s Service Officer Dave D), getting some help, because he’s burning out,” he said.

Where is their help? VSO Dave has been doing his best; he does great work but this should never have been his weight to bear alone. Mr Kwiarciary has made comment on this at a meeting as has Mr Gustafson. The Delta County Board has been spinning its wheels for years. Years in which Commissioner Moyle has sat in a Commissioner seat. Where is their help?

Discussing Veterans Park:

“I think it would be a field trip location for a lot of the schools, it would be a way to honor the vets; something that’s just very unique that could bring people to the area,” he said.

Moyle says the park has been a dream of his for 13 years.

Where would that park be and who would maintain/run it? What progress has been made on this in 13 years?

Discussing The Boys and Girls club:

The club is in the early stages, though the county has received multiple presentations from the man spearheading the program, Ricky Graham, and a meeting between the county and the organization’s regional coordinator has been set for July 23.

“We’ve already got pledges for almost $75,000.”

July 23 was a Sunday.

This meeting never took place.

Two county meetings included this topic and then nothing.

Who pledged the $75,000?

What happened to this opportunity?

Vote Moyle out May 7. He’s all talk and no action.
