Recall election

EDITOR:

The Special Recall Election of May 7th is fast approaching. The absentee ballots have been sent out and people are starting to vote. The premise of the recall effort surrounds the fact that the Delta County Board of Commissioners fired the county administrator, at the time, Emily DeSalvo. It is important for everyone voting, to understand the status of the county administrator. This can be found in MCL, chap 46.11 (o) of Act 156 of 1851.

The Administrator is not the Chairman of the Board, nor the Director of the Board. The main function of the Administrator is to facilitate the Board’s agenda and certainly, not to be an adversary. The position is at will, which gives the Commissioners full discretion to hire or fire. When the Administrator disagrees with the Board’s policy agenda and can no longer effectively carry out the duties of the position, it is time to leave.

The Commissioners are elected county officials and are responsible to their constituents and the county’s best interest. Commissioners Barron, Moyle and Petersen were elected by the citizens of their districts and are to be respected as such.

As Conservatives, we are asking Conservative Citizens in Delta County to vote on May 7, 2024 for our duly elected Commissioners, Barron, Moyle and Petersen, who have steadfastly carried out their duties while being attacked relentlessly by an organized group of very vocal individuals that seem to think, tearing someone down somehow elevates them or their cause.

We need all conservative citizens in Districts 3, 4, and 5, to vote in person on May 7, 2024, to show support for our Commissioners and the electoral process, which protects our Constitutional Republic form of government.
