Congratulations to the current federal administration. If your goal was to create an attitude of total distrust, mission accomplished. How about other readers? Do you think our country is on the right track?

While being trained to be a medical first responder, I was taught the ABC’s…airway, breathing and circulation. If any of these three were compromised, they required immediate medical intervention. Otherwise, as our instructor emphasized, the patient will be quickly put into the category known as “circling the drain.” I wonder if our country could be classified as such?

Mother Angelica, the late foundress of EWTN, was well known for two things: 1) Her love for Christ. 2) Her boldness. She was not afraid to tell anyone what they must do in order to turn their life around. She could be heard saying, “you are on the wrong track. You’re heading in the wrong direction. You need to change.” This was sometimes followed by, “I hope to scare the hell out of you!” To paraphrase her, “without repentance you’re circling the drain!”

We were once known as the land of the free. Fast forward to 2024 and see what we have become: Matt Vaughn was praying and singing in front of an abortion clinic. He was arrested, tried and convicted by a so-called jury and judge of his peers. He could be sentenced up to 12 years in prison for praying and singing. Meanwhile, some illegal, unvetted immigrants beat up a police officer in New York and three hours later they were freed. They then walk by other police officers, openly mocked them by shouting vulgarities, and flipped them off.

Laken Riley, a Georgia student, was brutally murdered by another illegal, unvetted migrant. How many more Jose Ibarras are there currently being housed, fed and given full medical benefits in our country right now? Illegal, unvetted migrants are allowed to walk in or are flown in at no cost to them. Who do you think is paying for all this? These are the same people who may rape, traffic drugs, join gangs, exploit children, beat up police officers and murder. Does this sound like we are on the right track, or in need of life-support?

What about the Department of Education changing the entire landscape of what should be taught in our public schools. They are attempting to rewrite history. They have introduced and continually push the doctrine called Critical Race Theory. They tell you that boys are not to be called boys and girls are not to be called girls. I guess they know better than God. And, if you show up at a school board meeting in protest, they sit you down and tell you to shut up.

Mother Angelica would boldly say, “America, the Land of the Free is circling the drain. We need to change!” The next election is not about Democrats/Republicans! It’s about rights/freedom verses Socialism/Totalitarianism. Your vote counts.
