Democratic party

EDITOR:

I, like some of you, have serious concerns about Donald Trump’s fitness to be president again. He talks too much about retribution for perceived wrongs. Our country has more important needs that. Mr. Trump does not have the same priorities I do. I believe he’s more concerned about his own image and welfare, than he is about most citizens of the United States. Remember, his first order of business in 2016 was to give huge tax breaks to the wealthiest people in the country. That money could have been better spent for roads, education, job training, etc., than to give it to people who don’t need it.

I used to watch the news every night hopeful his half dozen court cases would land him in prison. But Mr. Trump is a savvy guy. He knows how to delay his prosecutions. His hope is he will be re-elected so he can pardon himself – for fomenting an insurrection, defaming women, cheating on his taxes, lying about winning the 2020 election and stealing classified government documents.

Getting back to my frustration, I’ve decided to stop watching the news. There’s absolutely nothing I can do about it anyway. It only takes time away from things I could do to be a positive influence on the November election. So I decided to join the Delta County Democratic Party. I cannot hurry along Mr. Trump’s trials, but I sure can try to get more people to vote Democrat!

This is easy, because President Biden has done a lot for U.S. citizens. Under his leadership, COVID is no longer killing a million Americans, inflation has gone from over 9% down to 3%, the percentage of unemployed is at a 50 year low, wages are higher, the stock market is making all-time highs, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill is putting millions to work fixing things we depend on. That’s not surprising. Joe Biden knows what America needs and he knows how to get things done.

If you’re tired of feeling helpless about things you can do nothing about, join us in the Delta County Democratic Party, to ensure the good work continues.

We meet the first Wednesday of every month, at 7 p.m., at USW Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba, and by Zoom.
