County board
EDITOR:
Commissioner Moyle is a man of many words. Many words that lack truth, transparency, and follow-through.
After hiring Ms. Young as administrator, he said, “I wanna hire Jean Healy to be our junior administrator.” Not once has this been discussed. What would be in the job description? When would this take place? What happened to this position?
Commissioner Moyle also recently stated, “I’m no more unethical now than I was 10 years ago.” Did you know Commissioner Moyle sat as a voting member of the Delta County Planning Commission when Heritage Sustainable Energy was building wind turbines on the Garden Peninsula? He took thousands of dollars in campaign donations in 2020 from their top executives (discovered by a local citizen) and was told by the State Election board to return the money because he was over limits allowed. Was he promised this money if he voted a certain way? Why would the top executives of Heritage donate so much to a local race?
Commissioner Moyle said many times regarding Rory Mattson’s work on the parks, “He took a sow’s ear and turned it into a silk purse.” What else did Rory Mattson take? Things coming to light do not look good for the former CEO of the Conservation District and Commissioner Moyle has been on the Board of Commissioners every single step of the way. Joe Kaplan said in an August meeting that Moyle and Mattson signed a very questionable easement amendment with the county forest in Cornell but forgot to have it notarized (oops). There is a potential $825,000 payback issue with this easement amendment and Commissioner Moyle and Mattson chose to re-sign and have the easement amendment notarized in September. What else have he and Rory done? Why does he do whatever Rory tells him?
Lastly, we have his back and forth lawyer debacle with Scott Graham and Lauren Wickman, our elected Prosecutor. Since March Ms. Wickman has been attending meetings giving her feedback and apprehensions regarding the chaos of hiring Graham, the lawyer who does everything for free! Pro bono! Moyle says “he won’t charge us for this, he won’t charge us for that, he has no intentions of billing the county” yet, they’re not ‘buddies’? How does he know what Graham will or won’t do? Let’s not forget, during the election season of 2022, Moyle endorsed Wickman’s opponent for prosecutor, saying Ms. Wickman had too little experience.
Hmmm… he forced our airport manager out and fired our administrator. Thankfully he can’t get rid of Ms. Wickman because we elected her.
Commissioner Moyle, you need to go. Over 800 people signed for the chance to recall you. More and more people are paying attention and trying to figure things out. One thing a lot of us know is that you no longer belong in your commission seat.
