Two plus two

EDITOR:

Many have grown tired of political organizations pounding a narrative that is not true. I suppose they believe if something is continually displayed, people will eventually believe the lie. For several years we have been inundated with commercials and not-so-subtle messages displayed on football helmets and basketball uniforms. Unity, Equality, Justice, Tolerance and BLM have been displayed incessantly. Each of these words and phrases imply prejudice is still rampant in our culture. Even President Biden has recently said, “the #1 problem in America is white supremacy!” What a bunch of horse manure.

Under the pretense of tolerance, on Friday, June 16th, 2023 the LA Dodgers honored an LGBT group, known as the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” They will be receiving a Community Hero Award. The Dodgers’ decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a controversial drag group that dresses as nuns and mocks religious imagery, including the crucifixion, has sparked a backlash from all Christian denominations.

The decision to honor a group that clearly mocks the Catholic faith and makes light of the sincere and holy vocations of Catholic Nuns, who are an integral part of The Catholic Church, has caused much concern, even anger from the entire Christian community. The ministries and vocations of religious women should be honored and celebrated through genuine acts of appreciation, reverence, and respect for all the good community work they do. They provide a quality education for inner city youth throughout the U.S. They serve the sick, the homeless, the hungry and many others in need. They care for all souls, always sharing God’s loving grace. In a nutshell, they have dedicated their lives to Christ. Yet, the Dodgers’ want to honor a group that mocks this selfless vocation.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan said of the sisters of perpetual indulgence, “This leftist group has openly mocked Jesus and his agonizing death on the cross. The Dodgers are honoring this viciously anti-Catholic group. We here in New York are well aware of them. These are the ones that spit on Cardinal John O’Connor, these are the ones that threatened to desecrate the holy Eucharist, these are the ones who exposed themselves in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We’re well aware of their antics.”

Should a group like this be honored? Should we simply turn the other cheek or admonish the sinner? Shouldn’t all those who display the words…Unity, Justice, and Equality weigh in on this injustice? Wouldn’t it be nice if the media would stop trying togas-light’ us into believing these sinful ways are ok? This is no longer just about same sex attraction. It also includes transgenderism, and the intentional manipulation of children. Some will say, “we are not to judge.” This is a total cop out. Of course, we can’t judge someones soul, that is for God alone. However, we can discern their actions. Yes, we should love everyone, however, we don’t have to ‘tolerate’ and accept open blasphemy. Los Angeles, so-called City of Angels? America, it’s time we wake-up.
