Delta County is in jeopardy

EDITOR:

Delta County is under attack from within by the chairman of the board of commissioners.

He is on an ego trip, making decisions based on his private interests, not the interests of the citizens.

He announces what the board will do on the radio before any discussions, motions, or votes. Then he brings it to the board, insulting the intelligence of the public, by pretending to deliberate.

He has one of his two like-minded commissioners make a motion, the other seconds, and they vote 3 /2. But this is all pretense since the decision had already been made.

At the very first meeting, before approving the agenda, a motion was made to eliminate the ethics committee. It quickly passed in what has now become the expected 3/2 vote.

More recently, Moyle insisted on hiring a municipal attorney, even though the prosecutor, the current county legal advisor, told them three times the hazard of doing so. Ironically, this new attorney was also the chair’s private attorney, as well as the defense attorney for one of the individuals accused of planning to kidnap our Governor.

Citizens were told that this attorney would be used only if the county has a court case that is a conflict of interest with the prosecutor.

Once again, Moyle announced on the radio this new attorney was going to rewrite the policies and procedures for the county.

Why was this being brought to someone else?

Although we are being told that the attorney is working “for free,” the county would still be paying travel expenses at the rate of $125 an hour. So, this free work will likely cost the county in the neighborhood of $2,000 for a single trip when the prosecutor is paid $6,000 per year for all services. Now start to connect the dots.

Mr. Moyle, our chair, is again talking about making Delta County a sanctuary county. This is way more than guns; this is asking law enforcement to not enforce state laws. It is asking that land laws not be observed. Mr. Moyle is slowly chipping away at the very structure of our county by planning on eliminating government.

The current annexation issue is stemming from another ongoing effort by the commission to eliminate zoning altogether. The Township Associations need to quickly find an attorney so they will be prepared when the zoning contracts expire.

Mr. Moyle is moving fast as the recall effort moves forward. Watch for the petitions to be filed in July and be ready to sign the recall. Then get out and vote in November. Help save our county.
