EDITOR:

During last night’s county commission meeting while discussing the gun sanctuary proposal Commissioner Barron went off on a tangent about mental health treatment and how it’s nothing more than a government entity that is only interested in money to keep itself going. Commissioner Barron then went on to state that we are worse of than before we started treating people who need mental health services.

As a veteran who has used behavioral health services and on behalf of all the veterans who have served our country and who are using behavioral health services, shame on you Commissioner Barron. While you are entitled to your opinion, you are no expert in behavioral health sciences and what you said may have discouraged veterans and others from seeking the help they need and that is unacceptable.

Commissioner Barron you sounded more like a far right conspiracy theorist than a responsible county commissioner and that has no place in Delta County. The people of Delta County deserve better representation, you have shown that you are unfit to serve as a commissioner and should resign immediately.
