Delta County Board
EDITOR:
I have been following the charade at the Delta County commissioners meetings that the band of three along with the interm administrator have been engaged in since the commission opted to terminate former administrator.
The band of three commissioners have been playing a game with the public in attempting to convince them with the support of the interim administrator that installing her as the interim delta county administrator as dictated by her terms is in their best interests.
The public in not ignorant as you seem to think they are, but we are sick and tired of your antics and what you deem to represent. the smoke is beginning to rise.
I have had the privilige of being in business for 65 years and continue to have an active consulting practice here in the Midwest. If in my manufacturing operations i had a human resources manager who allowed a potential candidate to write their own contract they would have been terminated immediately and asked to leave with the candidate. That is what you are allowing to occur here with the interim administrator writing her own terms and conditions employment contract. it is revolting.
As the purported human resources specialist she should know better. I have read her contract thoroughly and find it self-serving. Not only does she write a contract for the full time delta county administrator under the guise of interim Delta County administrator, she protects herself by retaining the position of controller /HR specialist. She cannot be both but wants to command the full salary of both.
If the band of three in your infinite wisdom approve this contract then the interim administrator should immediately be required to resign her position as controller/hr specialist and the job posted for replacement. That being said why do we need another person to do training? What is the justification?
If you the commission are going to do this correctly then a job description should be developed for the interim Delta County administrator indicating the functions to be performed during the vacancy period to allow the office to function properly.
There should also be a memorandum of understanding developed outlining the duties to be performed and a stipend payment for the additional work to be performed. Interested candidates can accept or reject the opportunity.
