Enbridge plans

EDITOR:

Thank you Daily Press for your front page story regarding the US Army Corps of Engineers delaying Enbridge’s plans for the Great Lakes Oil Pipeline Tunnel proposed to run under the Straits of Mackinaw. Thank you also for publishing the front page picture in color showing the damage done to Enbridge Line 5 pipeline anchor support when an anchor from a passing ship hit this support in 2020.

Since Line 5 moves 23 million gallons of oil and natural gas daily under the straits which connects Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, it is only a matter of time before a rupture occurs in this nearly 70 year old duel pipelines.

In Enbridge’s colorful half-page ad, they declare their goal is “A cleaner energy future, using solar and wind power for the last two decades” They are so committed to promoting clean energy and reducing carbon from fossil fuels that they can claim to be investing $4 billion in renewable energy.

Since this Canadian company based in Calgary, Alberta claims to be such wonderful advocates of saving this planet from global warming and must want to protect one of the world supplies of freshwater in the Great Lakes, then prove it by removing this threat by removing this dual pipeline completely.
