Where’s the leadership?
EDITOR:
Surveillance cameras to protect flowers – really? The streets throughout the city are beyond bad. We have an old logging road behind our home that’s easier to ride on then the Escanaba city streets. Governor Whitmer ran on fixing the roads, give her a call. Oh ya, she had a million-dollar lottery for people who got the COVID shot. She must be out of money.
Beautifying the city for three months, try to fixing the streets that we can enjoy year around. Anyone who wants to start a business as to jump through hurdle after hurdle just to be turned down. We have a city council that can’t make any decisions. Shop local, we’ll be hearing a lot of that soon, but let’s hire a city manager from downstate, then let’s hire a lawyer from downstate to figure out the marijuana debacle but, she doesn’t have any answers so let’s hire another downstate lawyer to figure things out.
Definition of a loan — sum of money lent for period repayable with interest
All three of our kids graduated from NMU. They worked 2-3 jobs to put themselves through school. Our three grandsons have and are doing the same thing. Our son’s education was paid for when he graduated. It’s called responsibility. They all have good jobs and are responsible adults but now they are expected to pay the “loans of the deserving.” If I take out a loan to buy a car I don’t expect my neighbor to make the payments. How many of these college students go on spring break and spend thousands of dollars without so much of a thought “should I be doing this?”
Oh ya, that’s right – they deserve it because they work hard. Our kids never went on spring break because they had responsibilities – aka jobs and loans to be paid back.
In the August 23 Daily Press headline “College students return to campus without access to abortion” One girl said she worked out a plan with her mother. What kind of a mother says sure it’s ok to kill my grandchild as long as you get a good education. If abortion gets in the way of your plans abortion is not healthcare.
I was at a recent event where Governor Whitmer was the speaker (Not Governors Day at the fair) and after she was introduced with all her “accomplishments” she’s most proud of being a mother, she’s for abortion and plans to fight anyone against it. She’ll veto, veto, veto, anything that’s pro-life. You can’t have it both ways.
Where’s the leadership on the schools? Twelve years of schooling and they can’t write their name. They changed that math so Esky got an award a couple years ago for the highest score in the area a 45%, that tells me 55% of the kids aren’t getting it. When I questioned the superintendent he said “Ya I wish it was higher” Really, you’re the superintendent do something.
