Warming and cooling

Our current administration, and a ton of self-righteous actors and actresses are the faces of climate change. These are the people who take private planes everywhere. I heard that two of the Kardashians took two private planes to an event that took 16 minutes. And California is going to ban gas-powered cars? The state that produced a lot of our fruits and vegetables will not be able, because to bring the crops in, you need big, gas-powered, diesel-powered trucks and equipment. And those in charge in California think they actually have the ability to change the climate?

I remember, in high school, the news magazines were all talking about the next ice age. And it goes in cycles. I have read a lot about the blizzard of 1978. From what I can remember, it was pretty nasty. 1994-95 winter was brutal. I was driving school bus in Green Bay. It was -25 for three straight days. They closed school at -25. That was the winter following the extreme heat earlier in the year. That summer, over 700 people died in Chicago in one month from heat. It was 105 degrees when I arrived at O’Hare. When I got back to my parent’s house in Bark River, it was over 100 degrees. This summer seemed extreme. It was drier than normal. Last spring it was cooler and a lot wetter. Ten years ago, it was really cold and later that summer, it was really warm. I remember the story in the 70’s where Russia, then they were still the Soviet Union, was trying to figure out if massive mirrors could be built that would magnify the sun’s heat and warm the northern provinces. Remember the year that the frost was so deep that city water was freezing all over town. In Marquette, frost line was 9 feet down.

So, you see, weather cycles have always been there. Anybody who thinks we can control the temperature is out of their minds. There is a power that is much stronger than mankind. God made Earth and he will destroy Earth one day, not mankind.

I believe that we should take care of the Earth. Plastics are killing oceans. Re-use, reduce, re-cycle. But banning gas-powered cars, coal-powered electric plants, and sending billions of dollars overseas is just plain stupid. The Paris Accord that the U.S. is back in, will do nothing to the biggest polluters on the planet.

I was in New York a few years ago. I didn’t see any coastline that was washed away. In Miami, I hear there are areas that flood frequently when conditions are right. Its been that way for decades.

Climate change is being blamed for the drought in the Southwest. If you build cities in the middle of a desert, you are probably going to have a shortage of water. Maybe take some of that money we are sending overseas and figure out how to cheaply pipe ocean water to the desert and desalinate it.
