Dear Escanaba Football Fans,

My name is Coach Dave Mathieu, and I would like to clear up a misunderstanding. After the post game handshake I directed our team away from midfield and down to the end zone where we warmed up. After the fireworks, we looked for our students and fans so we could sing our fight song to them. Singing the school song to our fans is a tradition we practice win or lose. I did not want our players to go through, or in front of the Esky players, so we went towards the stands on our end of the field. Our students came down to the end of the bleachers. Unfortunately, they were standing in front of the Escanaba student section while we sang. I can assure you no disrespect was intended.

At Menominee, we strive to teach and coach good sportsmanship. We have nothing but respect for our 125 year tradition playing the Eskymos. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding.
