Too much time on two issues

EDITOR:

You ever wonder why people get jaded and frustrated in regards to government? Take our city council – please. Between the North Shore Development and the legal pot sales, these people couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag with contacting two lawyers, several consultants and they, the council, wonders why their meetings are not better attended. I would not be able to keep my mouth shut. I was president of, and ran a board of directors in Waikiki. When the board had a consensus, we moved forward. A consensus/majority didn’t always make everyone happy. We rarely went more than a couple of meetings before a decision was made on anything. How many more meetings for these two items? Now, you are talking about extending the sunset clause. There was a reason to put a sunset clause on the pot sales. If you are just going to extend it, then remove it completely.

The last council was the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. This council reminds me of Deputy Barney Fife. There was a reason that Andy only gave him one bullet. So, you have one member who doesn’t want any pot sales and I understand that. However, the voters spoke. It is supposed to be legal. Let it go. Same with the old jail. No more tours. Knock some buildings down and let’s get it started. I’m 64 years old. I would hope that some time before my life is over, there will be a decision, right or wrong, about these two issues. I won’t hold my breath.
