Gas Prices

EDITOR:

Monday, July 11, drove to Green Bay. When we left Escanaba, we had a full tank. In Menominee the Holiday Station was $4.41 a gallon Krist Oil was 4.39. A mile away in Marinette, Krist Oil was $4.02, and Kwik Trip was $4.03. 40 cents a gallon less in Wisconsin. Why? It was another 30 cents or more in Escanaba.

Wisconsin gas taxes are a little more than 30 cents a gallon. Michigan’s gas taxes are a little over 23 cents. About 7 cents difference. I think someone is taking advantage of the U.P. I could take a tanker truck to Marinette and fill up. I used to get tanker loads of 10,000 gallons. I could fill up and bring it to Escanaba and make about a grand. That’s retail. Kwik Trip and Krist didn’t pay retail for their gas. I believe that President Biden is indeed trying to shut down fossil fuel. He is on record, numerous times saying just that. His Executive Orders on Day One were proof of that intention. However, I think that the oil companies are using that to jack the prices.

I hope the President switches gears soon. There are examples all over the world that countries are suffering because they attempted to go green too quickly. Some have collapsed, some are on the verge of collapse. In the U.S., the electric grid is failing, in California, rolling blackouts are the norm.

We need to go back to a policy of “all of the above” — oil drilling, solar, wind, whatever.
