McBroom should testify

EDITOR:

The Iron Mountain Daily News reported on June 18th that our State Senator, Ed Mc Broom acknowledged his refusal to appear in person, before the United States Senate Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. His testimony as the chairperson of the Michigan Senate Oversight Committee which found “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud’ in the 2020 presidential election,” is relevant to our state and to our nation.

McBroom stated in his justification: “Every member of this body (Michigan Senate) should take offense to this notion that we should be expected to present our work to the federal government.” “I work for and only answer to the Michigan Senate and the people of the sovereign state of Michigan.”

As one of “the people of the sovereign State Of Michigan”, and as one of his own constituents, I call on Senator McBroom to openly and publicly, make a personal appearance, on camera before the January 6 committee with the knowledge that he has learned. Under oath.

Senator McBroom could most certainly, testify specifically, of the widely reported plans for slates of alternate Michigan electors being sent to the U.S. National Archives, potential violating state, federal and constitutional law (bound by centuries of precedent). He has direct knowledge of how the legitimate and confirmed results were nearly bypassed. He can offer what led his committee to conclude that in fact, Joe Biden did win the state by 154,000 votes, nearly 3%, in line with the votes counted on election day. These are facts that need to be put on the record. The safety of our future elections in this state, will be strengthened by his testimony regarding this matter specifically. If there are forces trying to subvert democracy in the State of Michigan, I would personally like to know who’s these forces are.

Ed McBroom is a widely supported and respected representative of the Upper Peninsula in the Michigan State Senate. Every single witness that has appeared in front of the January 6 committee has been of the same political party he is a member of. They are all proud Americans, standing up to the oaths that they have sworn to the constitution, who believe that the rule of law is what creates the backbone of our democracy. This is no time to sweep what happened under the rug. We must confront the truth of what happened on January 6, 2021, and that includes most importantly, the weeks between the election in November 2020 and January 6 2021.

I call on Senator McBroom to cooperate with the January 6 Commission. The truth will set us all free. If we do not confront the truth of what happened to our nation, by establishing the facts of the matter.
