Putin sanctions
EDITOR:
For those who pay attention, today it was announced that even stricter sanctions will be imposed on Vladimir Putin. This is the umteenth time that tighter sanctions will be imposed. Sanctions are restrictions on trade, simple as that. Once Russia invaded Ukraine, any and all trade should have stopped. Why are we still doing business with this country? In World War II, after Hitler began the attempted conquest of the world, did we continue buying goods such as oil, natural gas, wheat, corn, etc., from the Nazis? The Korean War was never finished. They split Korea in two. We stopped doing business with the North. It is a closed society as far as the U.S. is concerned. Until Nixon “opened up” relations with China, I believe that trade between our countries didn’t occur. I was only 12 at the time, so not sure about China.
If we were really serious about helping Ukraine, then why are we doing any business with Russia? We don’t do business with Cuba. We are continuing to fund Russia’s military by buying oil, wheat, etc., from Russia. Why? I know one reason. There is too much money behind the scenes. Like everything, follow the money.
It’s a screwed-up world.
