EDITOR:

In my travels, I have observed several lawn signs and bumper stickers that are vulgar and offensive. I am referencing “F… Biden” and “My Governor is an Idiot, Pure Moron”. What is happening to our culture? If appears we are becoming more coarse and divisive.

There is a virulent sickness in our society that is every bit as threatening and concerning as the COVID-19. It is hate, bigotry, and intolerance. Much of it is based on politics and the “Big Lie”.

Joe Biden won the 2020 Presidential Election. He is our legitimate President and deserves our respect. The election was not stolen no matter how many times the former guy says it was.

That is the big lie that lead to the insurrection on January 6th, one of the worst days in American history. That is when hundreds if not thousands of domestic terrorists stormed the Capitol and attacked the police with flag poles resulting in injuries to 138 officers, the death of five people, and one million dollars damage to the Capitol. A very dark day. This attack was encouraged by Trump to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. When it was over, he told the protesters that he “loved them”.

Then he attempted to stage a coup to retain power by pressuring the Justice Department to get involved.

At present, most of the Republicans in Congress humiliate themselves and their oath of office by failing to stand up for the truth and holding the disgraced, twice impeached Trump accountable. The threat to our democracy continues.

We should be better than this as a country, but maybe we are not.
