Headline was misleading

EDITOR:

I read the story in todays paper about a “controversy” with our city council. After reading the story I find the headline is really misleading. And, also not fair to the city council members who are seeking re-election. From what I can determine, council followed all appropriate protocols in handling this issue. This matter is being investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies per the request of council. Not making a criminal investigation public at this stage is “proper” procedure. Can you just imagine if your name appeared in a headline while an investigation is ongoing into a “possible” misconduct, and you were not even being charged yet? Names do not appear in print until after an investigation is fully completed and charges are drawn up by a prosecutor and initial arraignment has taken place. How can anyone even suggest a cover-up?

Given that the accusation was against only two of the members of council, the only two who are up for re-election, suggests to me that there is a political motive here. Two members of council do not make a majority and it would be impossible for them to assume entire responsibility of the full council. So to me, the complaint against the two up for reelection is motivated by dirty politics. Having been a political figure myself, I know a rat when I see one. And this rat needs to be exposed before it can influence our cities government. I know a little bit about criminal investigations as well, and this one is being done right by the book.

Now I may not always agree with Mr. Tall or Mr. Blasier, but never, ever have I questioned their integrity. Please don’t let this political “hit job” be an influence when voting in our city election.
