Land of the free and the home of the brave

EDITOR:

Freedom and fear are incompatible according to Eric Hoffer in his book, “The Passionate State of Mind.”

As a nation we must be brave.

The Marxist forces that are attacking us want us to live in fear: to fear a virus, fear climate, fear the differences between races, fear different social and economic levels of the people around us, fear censure, fear ostracism, fear the power of a politically biased media and a power crazed justice system.

But what we should truly fear is the concentration of federal power and the establishment of an unalterable socialist/Marxist cabal aristocracy. Disaster awaits when ideology defeats reality. The socialist ideology of an open border defeats legal entry, while allowing cascades of drugs, diseases, criminal acts, all at a huge financial burden. Green ideologies have cost us energy independence, jobs, consumer price increases and have empowered our international enemies. We should fear our schools being sources of socialist indoctrination instead of honoring our hard-fought history that has evolved into our cherished freedoms and liberties.

Another ominous message comes from Eric Hoffer in “The True Believer,” giving insights into the minds of fanatics and members of radical mass movements. He states that they are very dangerous because they shed facts and logic like water off a duck’s feathers. So, you can’t reason with them, we need to outvote them — if we can get an honest election.

Interestingly, Thomas Payne came to the same conclusion as our nation was being founded. He wrote, “To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”

We must now move past party politics and actively embrace patriotism if we are to save our country. We must become the home of the brave.
