An ounce of prevention
EDITOR:
In a letter published in late March, I asked why health care workers in the world’s most prosperous nation were having to do without face masks. I suggested that it was time for the President to act. In April, while complex and expensive ventilators were built by the thousands, the White House rejected a Postal Service proposal to send simple and inexpensive face masks to every household in the U.S. Face masks prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Ventilators are a last resort to keep the seriously infected from dying Trump boasts of his many ventilators. An ounce of prevention would have saved more lives.
