Make time to take deer hunt survey

EDITOR:

U.P. deer hunters who have not already participated in a recent DNR survey online, asking for hunter input about future changes in deer hunting regulations, have until Aug. 28 to do so. The survey only has six questions, three of which deal with U.P. deer hunting, and only takes a few minutes to complete. To access the survey, go to the DNR website (mi.gov/dnr) and click on hunting, then click on deer hunting.

There’s a gray box with 2020 deer season dates. At the bottom of that box is a link to the survey that says, “please fill out this survey.” A direct link to the survey is lengthy (https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=h3D71Xc3rUKWaoku9HIl0QAX0JXc2oZPmVZUlrPcflhUMVdEUlFLUFRVMlBZU1pZNDdSOEZWNVJDQi4u). The survey was first put online Aug. 20, so there’s a narrow window for hunters to participate.

Hunters are supposed to watch a 2-hour Virtual Open House before filling out the survey, but the video of that Virtual Open House was not yet posted by Aug. 23. Many hunters probably won’t find out about the survey until the deadline to participate has expired.
