Spring is here and that is a good thing. An old problem is cropping up again people walking their dogs in Ludington Park and elsewhere within the city off leash. It is especially a problem right in proximity of the bike path and on Aronson Island. It doesn’t matter how well your dog is trained, they are still animals. Ludington Park is for everyone — those that loves dogs as I do and those who are not so fond of them. Dog owners need to be considerate of others enjoying the park. Both those with pets, as well as those who want nothing to do with pets. My dog was severely mauled 14 months ago by two dogs “who have never done anything like that before.” Lastly, it is the law anywhere within the city of Escanaba dogs must be leashed and dog owners can be ticketed.
