Pick up a shovel

On Jan. 14, I took note of Escanaba’s downtown. The temperature was about 38 degrees. Most of the sidewalks were covered in snow and ice. There were few, very few, that had clean sidewalks. I have noticed a lot of radio ads promoting shopping downtown. What would it take to get a shovel and shovel the sidewalk? If it is icy, buy a $4 bag of rock salt. I picked up an older lady at one of the hair places and she had to navigate the sidewalk and then walk through about a 3 foot pile of snow. T&T Hardware sells some very good metal shovels. I am pretty sure that the businesses on Ludington Street have snow shovels.
