Upcoming Bay College millage proposal

EDITOR:

In Delta County’s Nov. 5, 2019 election voters will be asked whether or not they approve of increasing the amount of taxes that can be assessed. All property in Bay’s district boundaries by .8924 mills for 20 years from 2019 to 2038.

Currently, Delta County property owners pay Bay College 3.3076 mills which will generate $3,907,503 in 2019. This amount will increase each year due to the total taxable value of Delta County increasing.

Despite the constant millage rate of 3.3076 mills since 2011, an additional $1,643,185 has been given to Bay College due to taxable property values increasing.

Delta County’s property owners have been generous and have approved recent millage requests for Road Patrols, 911 Authority, Recycling, Data Bus and the bond debt for the new jail.

Delta County’s property owners need a break from the constant barrage of additional millage requests.

Bay College must do what any business or individual must do, review, their income and budget accordingly.
