Put trash where it belongs

EDITOR:

The annual Fourth of July festivities are fast approaching. I live within a block and a half of Ludington Park. Every year, the morning after the fireworks, we, as well as many others who leave near the park, have to go into our front yards and clean up all of the trash left by people who have parked on our streets.

We have cleaned up the contents from ash trays, dirty diapers, cans and bottles from drinks, all kinds of food packaging, the remains of spent fireworks, and just plain trash in general. I have suggested that extra trash receptacles be placed where people exit the park to get to their vehicles, but one should think that people would have enough respect to take their trash home with them if there isn’t a garbage can available.
