Grant funds used to purchase drone

This week’s bouquets go to:

Community Foundation for Delta County and its Youth Advisory Committee have donated funds to the Escanaba Public Safety Department to help with the purchase of a drone. The Youth Advisory Committee is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula. The City of Escanaba, along with the Escanaba Public Safety Department accepted the grant award.

Public Safety Director John Gudwer stated, “The funds awarded will help with the purchase of the first drone that will be put to use within the Escanaba Public Safety Department. The Department is grateful for the support of the Community Foundation for Delta County and its Youth Advisory Committee for recognizing the importance of this purchase. The drone will provide an additional tool on both the police and fire side of operations. The drone can be put into dangerous situations/conditions officers currently are put in.”
