Library staff thanks Great Start Family Coalition

This week’s bouquets go to:

The staff of the Escanaba Public Library wishes to acknowledge the Delta-Schoolcraft Great Start Family Coalition, led by Great Start Family Liaison and Co-Director, Laurie Mold, for taking the initiative to partner with local agencies, United Way of Delta County and Youth Empowering Services (Y.E.S.) to host Family Fun Nights at the library for local families and kids 0-8 years old, as well as Family Coalition parent members Becky Bender, Jesse Traub, and Rachel Capon for leading monthly Saturday storytimes as part of the Family Coalition’s parent-led work plan to connect families and offer unique literacy experiences. Additionally, coalition members Amelia Schaffer and Mikiah Tryan, have been helping develop Family Fun Nights for United Way and Y.E.S. The literacy events have been very well received, reaching over 525 total attendees since October.

The library also thanks Sarah Sorensen, Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center, and the Delta County Sheriff’s Department for presenting a storytime in conjunction with K9 Rexy and Therapy K9 Vera for Child Abuse Prevention Month in March.

Finally, the library recognizes community volunteer and Lego Club leader, Elizabeth Lind, for stepping up to continue this ever-popular monthly activity, sponsored by the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library.
