Pink Fest – Bras for a Cause an amazing success
October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser adorned Cat Man Do’s, Rapid River Pub and Cheniers Reef with 27 fun, creative and beautifully decorated bras.
When Sarah Maki, Daily Press publisher reached out to the Delta County Cancer Alliance in May to present the idea, I must say we were a bit hesitant. However, we know we have to continue to be as creative as possible to find ways to raise money to support All of our cancer clients in Delta County. And that we did. Not only did we raise over $7000.00; but also provided information related to cancer resources and most importantly brought together hundreds of people who share a common struggle, cancer.
Each of the three venues offered food, specialty pink drinks, games and raffles. All this while patrons voted for which bra(s) they thought was most creative. ng became competitive when Laurie VanDamme (Gwinn,MI) used social media to get her friends and family to contribute to the votes for her decorated bra. That encouraged other bra designers to set in motion their own campaign to gather votes. All of this culminating into raising over $7000.00
Gayle DeShambo, DCCA President shared this event would not have been as successful without the help and support of the Daily Press staff and expertise. They did an amazing job making sure our community was very aware of the event(s) details. Their staff did not miss a beat sharing the opportunity with their vendors and were spot on helping at all the events.
We are so fortunate to live in a community where everybody is so supportive of each other and willing to go above and beyond to pay it forward.

The Delta County Cancer Alliance would like to announce a sincere shout out to the Daily Press and their amazing staff for presenting us with the idea of Pink Fest/Bras for a Cause.
But their support did not stop there.
Together we worked through countless meetings to organize and solidify the IDEA to become a reality.
The staff took ownership of the idea and encouraged others to get involved and participate.
The organizing team worked outside of regular business hours to set up, participate and take down each of the three venues.
They did what they do best and that was an amazing job promoting the event to the community.
As the Delta County Cancer Alliance Board President I humbly say thank you to the Daily Press and their staff for doing so much more then their call of duty. I believe you are a unique group of people who sincerely care. Know that what you did will help several Delta County Cancer Patients enduring the challenges of cancer.
