Going above and beyond at Esky athletic field

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Rusty Bluse of Escanaba:

A special thank you to Gay and Dan Kleikamp. Taking pride in our Escanaba Eskymos football facilities, can no better be exemplified by these two special people. As is normal with anyone’s outdoor lawns and gardens, every year we need to do the necessary “sprucing up” to make those areas presentable to those who walk by or are visiting. Gay and Dan have gone above and beyond to make the Escanaba athletic field entrance and surrounding area something we can all be proud to share with our own Eskymos, as well as those teams and fans with whom we compete.

Gay spent six days on her hands and knees removing the grass and weeds that accumulate between the rocky areas near the ticket booths, concession stand, handicap ramp, and even the fence at the entrance. Her meticulous work had made these areas pristine.

Dan trimmed every shrub, weed-wacked the entire picnic area, cleaned up the grass and shrubbery along the fence on the 18th Avenue and then hauled all the brush away. He also power-washed all the orange and black pavers all around the concession stand so the names of the supports who purchased the tiles can be easily read by those who walk the paths.

I have been an Eskymo fan, teacher and coach since I arrived here in 1971 and it makes me full of pride to see these individuals still have the same pride I feel for this program. If you come to the game this Friday and see Dan and Gay, please show them the appreciation they deserve for their hard work and support of this program.
