Community Foundation for Delta County distributed Easter dinner food baskets to local needy veterans earlier this week
David Dziewior, CPO, USN (Rd), accredited veterans service officer of the Delta County Veteran Service Office commented, "The Community Foundation for Delta County contacted me inquiring on the number of Delta County Veterans needing help with providing their family an Easter Dinner. I put a list together and provided the community foundation with a number and they took over, putting in the time and effort it takes to get things done."
Cheryl Andzejewski, executive director for the Community Foundation for Delta County stated, "This Easter holiday still came with some challenges with quantity restrictions plus companies not being able to place special pre-orders and trying to get an affordable price on all of the items needed so that we could distribute as many Easter food baskets as possible. It was with a lot of persistence, hard work and some hair pulling we finally had been able to secure the quantity of items needed."
The Community Foundation Board of Trustees and staff were more than happy to do the work it took to help make our Delta County veterans upcoming holiday season a little easier. The Community Foundation's Board of Trustees and Staff have the upmost respect for all veterans and truly appreciate all they have done for our Nation and us.
Andzejewski continued, "It's because of the community foundation's collaboration with the Delta County Veteran Service Office and the following organizations, donors and sponsors that we are able to give back to our needy Delta County Veterans this holiday season".
A special thanks to Seventh Day Adventist Food Pantry for their storage facility usage and helping hands; Feeding America and Jim and Deb Kirby of Sayklly's Confectionery & Gifts -- for special pricing on the hams and Sayklly's Easter Egg's, Thrivent – for gift cards directed by Thrivent Action Team Members; Connie Mayville and Maureen Nelson; Thrivent Choice Dollars directed by Cheryl Andzejewski and Connie Mayville. As well as donations from Randy King, Tina Seymour, John and Joanne Gudwer and our Legacy Platinum Sponsors: Bay Area Pool & Spa, Scott Lowke of Captrust, Michigan Blue Cross Blue Sheild of Michigan, DTE Energy Foundation, Pat Lindow and Cory Kuchenberg of Edward Jones Investments, EMP, First Bank, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gartland, Northgate Equipment & Sales, The Carpet & Drapery Shoppe and Brain Pahnke of Thrivent Financial.
"On behalf of the Community Foundation for Delta County Board of Trustees and Staff, I'd like to wish all of our Veterans, and community, a happy, healthy, safe and enjoyable Easter Season", stated Mrs. Andzejewski.
