Local businesses come through in time of need

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Art Van Damme of Gladstone:

Two weeks ago my front tire fell off my truck as I was backing out of my parking space at Menards. I called Gene’s Towing, They were busy but promised to get someone there with in an hour. In the hour I waited, trying to keep a couple of spaces open for the tow truck, at least 10 people offered help, ride home, whatever I needed. When the two tow trucks showed up, they looked under my vehicle and realized a nut fell of the bolt that held my lower arm on that my tire was mounted to. They said we don’t have to tow this, we’ll jack it up. I just needed a nut for the bolt. My son was now there. He goes to Advanced Auto Parts to buy a nut, comes back. I ask him how much, they told him no charge, just take it. In 10 minutes, truck is fixed and I’m ready to go. Having lived in a very beautiful spot in Florida for the last 20 years, I knew right then I moved back to the right place, only in the U.P.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
