Dog park is welcome addition to community

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Pamela Meleski of Escanaba:

I would like to send a big thank you to the recreation board for our new dog park. If you are a dog owner you really should give it a try. Your dog will love you for it. The dogs frolic and play as the owners visit. I have witnessed every owner being responsible for it’s own dogs waste.

My own pup starts crying as soon as we turn at the airport. Of course, it is always more fun if one of her buddies is there to run with. But even when she is there alone, she runs and runs.

As the snow gets closer, I am hoping there is a plan to keep the park opened and somewhat plowed.

Thanks again for making our community more dog friendly, safe and happy.

From Gail Gill of Escanaba:

Many of us would like to thank Fr. Fran DeGroot of St. Anne’s Parish who realized our Escanaba city fire hydrants needed attention with new paint. As you drive down Lincoln Road and other streets give him a quiet thank you for encouraging our city to freshen these hydrants. Notice the extra special colors.

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
