Shopko and its staff will be missed

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Mike “Chief” Olson of Escanaba:

A hearty thanks to all the ShopKo employees for so many decades of providing a service to our area. Many liked shopping there for a variety of reasons, one of them being the friendliness and courtesy of the staff there. It is always sad to see a large business “go out of business.” That seems to happen too often around here. Best wishes to all workers there, and those seeking to hire folks, consider hardworking ShopKo employees. For us mall walkers, now we have a shortened daily trek.

From Hope at the Inn:

Misha Gagne and her husband Mike brought many gifts to Hope at the Inn, Delta County’s homeless shelter. When Misha learned that the shelter was closing for the season on April 7, she felt deep concern for those who had not yet found a place to live and set about securing items that would help them weather the elements. Generous gifts poured in from individuals in her church, Wellspring, located in the mall and from coworkers at her place of employment, Serendipity Salon. Misha also reached out on Facebook and received donations from as far as Iron Mountain. Each homeless person received a tent, sleeping bag / blanket, personal hygiene items, snacks, handwarmers, and even toilet paper, among various other useful items. We at Hope at the Inn thank each and every one of the generous donors who have touched the lives of the homeless in our community in a very practical way. Thank you, Misha, for your thought-filled outreach.
